My Corby based client is recruiting a Business Development Manager with previous POS experience on a permanent basis. The main purpose of this role is to win and maintain strong client relationships with new and prospective customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • You shall be required to self-generate new sales leads (as well as receiving from the company in-bound sales leads from time to time) that will become new clients. You shall be expected to carry out this function by seeking out new individuals within businesses who are interested in taking POS products and bespoke retail display services from the company.
  • You will be expected to target new prospects through a variety of ways (telephone contact, referral activity, networking, attending events, shows etc.).
  • You shall be set yearly targets for each financial year and these will be reviewed on an on-going basis. Targets shall comprise of minimum revenues per year from existing clients and minimum new revenues from new clients.
  • This role will require you to work with a variety of demanding and ambitious clients. You are to encourage as many ''opportunity briefs'' as possible from new prospects - all of which shall demand a speedy response and turnaround. You shall be responsible to proactively search out 'opportunity briefs' by approaching individuals across multiple departments within the client's business.
  • At the relevant point, 'opportunity briefs' that turn into 'projects that require delivery' will require you to work closely with other in-house personnel (design, estimators, delivery personnel etc.) - where your role will be to professionally Project Manage each project, liaising with suppliers, contractors, in-house personnel etc to ensure that each project is delivered on time, in budget and to a level that delights and surpasses client expectations.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication, alongside sales and project management skills are required to carry out the role of Business Development Manager. You will be adept in carrying out face to face communications as well as telephone, written, email, skype and any other communications medium as appropriate.
  • You will possess a natural confidence and ability to engage and work with clients and prospects at all levels within a client's / prospects business.
  • Knowledge, understanding, a desire to learn and a genuine passion is required to carry out the role.
  • Previous experience of the POS and/or bespoke display retail industry is highly desirable.
  • You shall be expected to maintain a high level of industry/sector awareness by investigating/reading sector publications, social media publications, websites, attending trade shows, exhibitions and alike.
  • Knowledge of retailer / brand guidelines is a key function for the role in order for you to deliver robust solutions for clients.
  • Managing client expectations at all times, ensuring that all projects remain on track, on time, with realistic and successful outcomes being achieved at all times.
  • It is vital for you to manage your own time, be punctual, have an eye for detail, to be thorough and diligent at all times.
  • You will be a great team player and play your part in the company strive towards greater success and efficiencies in the future.
  • Problem solving, being flexible, being able to work under pressure towards delivery deadlines are all key to success within the role.
  • Honesty and integrity with all whom you work with, and for, is paramount within your role.
