The Category Manager of an online store is the owner of a business within a business. A great opportunity for someone to step into and make their mark on the online side of the business.

This role will drive digital, social and ecommerce vision, strategy, planning, implementation and evaluation

Responsibilities include;

  • Managing all aspects of online merchandising across categories within responsibility area and landing pages including pricing, descriptions, and promotions by device
  • Liaising with buying teams on key product areas, with merchandising teams on stock levels and availability and digital marketing on trading messages and activity. Responsible for stock forecasting and ensuring sales meet targets across all own web channels.
  • Working with buying and merchandising teams as well as creative and marketing teams to deliver engaging content to the customer throughout our homepages, editorial and features, emails etc. Ensuring all key product and category stories are being communicated and sales maximised, trading calendars and promotional activities are planned, briefed and delivered
  • Ensuring that stock availability is sufficient across all areas for the sales targets to be achieved. Working with merchandising teams to agree allocation quantities and requesting more stock where needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring all products are uploaded to the website in time for launch with all product imagery, copy and correct attributes in place and on time
  • Reporting on sales and online KPI performance alongside the Digital marketing, driving out actions to improve conversion where necessary.
  • Working closely with digital marketing on all sales forecasts and trading activity. Ensuring correct messages and priorities are covered across emails and all other performance marketing channels.
  • Using web analytics tools such as GA to analyse the performance of content such as editorials and homepages and suggesting changes where necessary. Helping to drive out ideal templates and approaches to user experience.
  • Identifying and driving areas of future development for the E-Commerce Roadmap such as payment types, user experience, mobile developments, delivery and returns proposition etc.
  • Pull reports on a weekly/monthly basis to then present findings to the team
  • Deep dive projects on under-performing areas
  • Optimization of key categories/best sellers via product pages
  • Proven experience of using onsite platforms / merchandising tools (ideally Aurora but not essential)

Previous experience

  • Strong commercial awareness and trading mentality.
  • A proven ability to work quickly and efficiently with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Previous E-Commerce experience would be desired in Fashion
  • Experienced in site analytics tools (GA)
  • Have the confidence to liaise with professionals at all levels in the business
  • Have at least 2 years' experience in a similar trading/merchandising role within retail although relatable industries will be considered
