Lead Account Executive - Merchant Services

The Europe Merchant Sales and Solutions is a team dedicated to serving the needs of the organisation's merchant and acquiring partners. Their team specifically works with the largest and most complex European headquartered merchants across travel, grocery, retailer and tech verticals.

As a part of the team, you can expect to lead client engagements with a subset of these merchants. You will also have frequent exposure to Europe's leadership and play a key role in successfully growing our team.

You can expect to lead the building and development of internal and external relationships with key stakeholders, and drive strategic deals with merchant partners.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in payments, client relationship management skills and presence, and knowledge of merchant strategies and priorities. You will enjoy creative problem solving, working collaboratively across functions, and have an entrepreneurial mindset.


  • You will identify & manage senior merchant relationships. Identify & develop key strategic players within merchant organisation that will elevate partner discussions to focus on growth.

  • You will be providing day-to-day oversight of the business. Proactively manage the ongoing needs of the merchant and provide guidance to internal teams to ensure the highest quality customer service on all matters ranging from strategic to executional.

  • You will be identifying and quantifying merchant investments. Identify merchant investment & partnership opportunities that will jointly benefit merchants and the organisation, develop appropriate business cases and forecasts, advocate for funding, track performance/return of invested funds, and use learnings to inform future investments. Gain alignment & merchant buy-in.

  • You will be driving positive merchant outcomes. Consultatively identifying and prioritising merchant needs and crafting customised solutions that grow the merchants' business and increase merchant satisfaction

  • You will build and develop client management team. Recruit and train a high-performing team that has a deep understanding of its merchants and industries, delivers against objectives, and drives merchant satisfaction.

  • You will be establishing strong internal partnerships. Establish fluency in all merchant-facing solutions. Collaboratively define responsibilities for various merchant outcomes with internal partners. Articulate merchant needs and influence product/capability road maps by leveraging merchant feedback.


Lead Account Executive - Merchant Services


  • A passion for Fintech, and in particular payments
  • Strong external sales/business development background with product experience and abilities, preferably with large merchant clients
  • Strong commercial mindset, with budget and/or P&L experience preferred
  • Experience working in the Travel & Entertainment, Grocery and/or Retailer space
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-performing individuals
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in client facing roles and internal constituents
  • Ability to communicate complex technical/financial concepts with subject-matter experts and convey those concepts to a broad audience
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with high level of success/achievement
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including the ability to manage internal and external resources and cross-functional teams
  • Prior experience working with or for merchants and issuers would be a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Bachelors or Graduate level degree preferred

Job Offer

A basic Salary of £78,000 - £94,000 dependant upon experience

Car Allowance, Bonus and additional company benefits.
