The Underwriter will assess risk on merchant credit card processing and correspond with merchants to validate transaction activity. They will also be responsible for underwriting new corporate clients & business partners, which includes supporting the relationship from approval to implementation, and ensuring all conditions of approval have been met.


?? To minimize losses to Electronic Commerce through effective risk management of a portfolio of large corporate and business partner accounts

?? Review credit analysis and perform underwriting for prospective and existing commercial accounts using credit evaluation guidelines

?? Complete credit reviews using detailed financial statement analysis, credit bureau reports, sector analysis, and other third party information

?? Review financial statements and credit reports to assess the creditworthiness of prospective clients

?? Evaluate fraud and risk exposure on new merchant accounts

?? Ensure compliance with card brand (i.e., Visa, MasterCard, etc.) rules

?? Ensure merchant is in compliance with regulatory standards and contractual parameters

?? Review daily fraud management and dispute reporting to monitor for unusual or suspicious activity

?? Negotiate collateral and/or other risk mitigation instruments as needed

?? Contact merchants, relationship managers, and/or issuing banks to determine appropriate investigative action

?? Capture and hold funds according to guidelines as warranted

?? Manage existing accounts to mitigate fraudulent or high-risk transactions and help avoid merchant or company monetary losses

?? Educate merchants and relationship managers regarding the fundamentals of proper card acceptance procedures and best practices

?? Opportunities to expand responsibilities in assisting our Finance and Risk teams


?? Minimum of 3 years' experience in fraud analysis, risk management, or credit underwriting experience is required

?? Minimum of 3 years' experience in Merchant Services is a mandatory requirement

?? Knowledge of Card Association rules, specifically those relating to Merchant Services Providers, Payment Facilitators, Independent Sales Organizations, High Risk Sectors, and Chargebacks is desirable

?? Competently analyzes and prioritizes information to make appropriate recommendations

?? Confident in creative problem solving and implementing effective solutions with a sense of urgency and assertiveness

?? Ability to handle conflict in a professional and efficient manner

?? Strong attention to detail while also having the ability to see the big picture

?? Efficient task management

?? Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written

?? Capable of keeping sensitive information secure
