Job Description

The Mobile and Digital Product Manager will be a key contributor to the development of mobile and digital payment products within Discover Network. This person will work on highly complex payment products and services, with product development responsibilities for Discover Digital Exchange (DDX); Discover Network’s proprietary platform which enables issuer participation in digital wallets. The manager may also have product responsibilities for our Developer Portal; provides third-party developer access to our externalized APIs and SDK.


• The Product Manager will assist in the creation and build of the DDX product roadmap; work with and coordinate cross-functional teams to develop solutions to the challenges of executing the strategy and promote products and services across all mobile payment form factors and channels.
• Be a product subject matter expert on various aspects of mobile and digital payments with an emphasis on new product and service initiatives. Communicate effectively with development teams and other partners to ensure deliverables are of a high quality and meet product roadmap requirements.
• Develop partnerships in the mobile ecosystem to identify new business and functional needs.
• Maintain a strong ongoing relationship and dialogue with operations and business development teams to ensure that the product is delivered to meet partner needs and that the product roadmap and product capabilities are clearly communicated.
• Ensure the development and launch of products and services to meet key the milestones of the product roadmap; from developing prototypes with the Solutions and R&D teams to global product launches of Discover products and services.
• Work with internal stakeholders across the organization to develop requirements, guidelines, policies, practices, and procedures to facilitate the implementation of new products and services, including creating clear and concise internal and external product marketing and operational documentation and materials.
• Work with internal stakeholders across the organization with a focus on product enhancements that protect and grow revenue streams for DDX.
• Support relationships with ecosystem partners and suppliers that use Discover digital payment products and services.

Skills Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Demonstrated ability to lead large and complex cross functional technology projects.
• Seven years progressively responsible business experience with product development experience in digital payments and/or advanced payments platforms.
• An ability to adjust messaging according to the audience, from going deep into the technical design and implementation of a solution with development and technology teams to providing an overview of product strategy and proposition to Discover management, clients and partners.
• Experience with product development methodology for technology products, including direct involvement in the development of product vision, requirements gathering, functional design and technical implementation.
• A demonstrated track record of delivering or implementing payment products in emerging channels such as mobile and e-commerce, and an ability to translate product complexities into practical business solutions appropriate for Discovers clients and partners.
• Ability to be analytical and fact-based when necessary to defend product roadmap decisions, and given the changing nature of and uncertainty inherent in the digital payments space, being a flexible and creative thinker able to craft solutions to business opportunities.
• Solid grasp of mobile and digital payment architectures and technologies including Tokenization, HCE, and TSMs.
• Familiarity with mobile and digital payment standards including EMV, NFC, and Global Platform.
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to drive consensus in cross regional and cross functional teams.

• Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
