About the role:
The successful candidate will ensure the development teams you work with are always doing the most valuable thing possible improve the products and services you are responsible for.

You act as the interface between the development team and other groups with requests on their time, finding the right balance between competing priorities and setting clear priorities for each sprint.

Working closely with the Product Manager, you translate initiatives into detailed work for the team by maintaining a backlog of user stories, explaining the vision of each new change to the team and ensuring the team delivers regular incremental improvements.

Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of EPOS and associated back office and mobile applications.
  • Explain the product roadmap and vision to the team, so that everyone working on the product understands and supports objectives.
  • Take feedback across various teams of the client on your product, and use this to maintain a prioritised backlog of bugs and product improvements.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager to translate product roadmap items into a backlog the team can deliver.
  • Maintain sprint and release plans for current initiatives, so the team understands how the backlog is expected to be delivered.
  • Run sprint planning sessions so that the team always understands the current committed work, and sprint review meetings for stakeholders.
  • Run backlog elaboration sessions with the team to ensure there is always a suitable depth of stories in the backlog that the team can take on in the next sprint.
  • Assess the value of new stories suggested by people across the business, expand the content to clearly express what is required and prioritise them in the backlog.
What we are looking for:
  • Strong experience of retail EPOS systems and the EPOS marketplace - an EPOS expert
  • Familiarity with the specific needs of the convenience retail sector
  • Knowledge of agile development techniques, and acting as a product owner for a development team
  • Ability to communicate clearly to technical teams to explain requirements and answer questions
  • Able to take a high-level product initiative and elaborate it into a backlog of specific requirements.
