Job Content
The Chip Center of Excellence team within Global Commerce is responsible for developing, managing and implementing critical advanced payment products impacting all businesses in Discover Financial Services. These products are based on complex technologies including EMV and Contactless (i.e. NFC). EMV is a specification for conducting secure transactions between cards with integrated chips (chip cards), POS terminals capable of reading chip cards, issuers and acquirers. The EMV specifications broadly impact the payment ecosystem from card issuing to merchant acquiring, and serve as the baseline technology for other products such as mobile payments. D-PAS is Discover Financial Services’ EMV-compliant payment specification.
Specific responsibilities
This employee will be responsible for managing ongoing activities for advanced payment product implementation support and providing subject matter expertise to issuing and acquiring partners operating on the Discover Global Network within the EMEA region. This may be for existing issuers and acquirers that are migrating from magnetic stripe or for new participants to the network. He or she may also work with external consultants, terminal manufacturers, card manufacturers, personalization bureaus, testing labs, and test tool vendors to help enable support for these products.
The successful candidate will help guide partners through the implementation lifecycle, and be responsible for ensuring that project timelines are met. He or she will manage the resolution of failed tests, facilitate requests for policy exceptions/waivers, and communicate final certification approval and help resolve all issues that may arise during certification, implementation and deployment.
He or she will also be responsible for developing knowledge in particular markets, helping to set strategy for deployment, forecasting & tracking implementations, communicating status, as well as tracking to resolution production issues found in the field.
This employee will build relationships with departments throughout DFS including Discover Network, DCI, PULSE, Discover Card and Discover Bank. He or she will also interact regularly with many types of business partners, including external clients and vendors and will deliver presentations, develop and lead training, and provide SME guidance both inside and outside DFS.

Other Requirements
• Payments experience, preferably with hands on experience of chip cards from either the issuing or acquiring perspective or another payment network.
• Track record in managing projects of varying complexity and scope
• Strong PC competency (MS Office products, Visio, and Microsoft Project) required
• Well-developed presentation skills, including the ability to effectively deliver information internally and externally at all levels
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong aptitude for planning and organization, detail – oriented
• Support other core functions within the CCOE e.g. process improvement, documentation & reporting
• Ability to travel internationally

Task Complexity
The successful candidate will work independently on complex projects which will involve a high level of technical understanding of the operation of advanced payments products and their impact on the payment ecosystem.

Will work in consultation with CCOE management to agree broad strategy and goals, and will enjoy a large amount of freedom to make their own decisions to achieve them while keeping management informed of their progress. Considers the implications of options when making difficult decisions.
Communication Skills
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to summarize and present information at the appropriate level of detail for the intended audience across various levels in the organization and externally.
