Project Manager - Payments industry experience

It is essential to have PAYMENTS industry experience for this role.

The Project Manager will deliver change projects across both technology and business functions. Our client needs a commercially-minded, detailed-oriented individual; an excellent communicator who will drive a project to completion, take personal responsibility and pride in delivery. As a proven manager of technical change (either having come from a development background or having extensive experience working with software development teams) the Project Manager will provide oversight and challenge to ensure high quality on time deliveries.


The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of customer-facing and internal roadmap projects and responsibilities will include:

* Definition of the project scope and objectives

* Direct liaison with clients

* Developing a project plan and associated schedules, etc.

* Matrix managing internal resources and third parties

* Progress tracking and reporting, including RAID registers, gate and quality assurance reviews, etc.

* Stakeholder management of the internal and external management teams

* Closure of the project to formalise acceptance of the project deliverables and release project resources

* Support development of business cases with the business sponsors

* Taking ownership of one or more client facing projects, providing oversight across multiple roles (Analysis, Architecture, Requirements Capture, SDLC, deployment and operations)


These responsibilities will be supported by the creation, maintenance and ownership of:

* Project initiation documentation

* Risk Strategies specific to a given project

* Regular issues management meetings, actions and hands on resolutions where possible

* Regular status reporting which must clear, concise and relevant

* Business analysis as required to support gaps in the project

* Daily logs

* Project schedules which are created, maintained and accurate

* Project definitions and product definitions agreed with stakeholders and product management functions

* Frequent, clear and plain communications with clients and internal stakeholders via phone, email and formalised reporting



Software Development project management experience, in an Agile environment.

Experience in the Payments Domain (Familiarity with Card Payments Terminology)

Client relationship management or Professional services delivery experience.

Minimum 5 years of project management experience:

o Delivery of multiple, complex projects

o Initiation of Projects including governance structures, reporting procedures etc.

o Planning and Reporting to a high standard

o Stakeholder management and collaborative working

Understanding of both waterfall and Agile SDLCs

SCRUM or Kanban experience (Either as a project manager utilising Agile delivery or a member of an Agile team)

Able to communicate at both executive and technical levels.

Excellent information and data presentation skills

Proven delivery experience in a direct project management role


e-commerce, POS or retail experience

Certified SCRUM Master

Business Analysis experience

24/7 Operations experience

Experience of operating within a PMO

Any exposure to Payment terminals, Payment Processors, Gateways or Acquirers an advantage



Certified Project Management Qualification (Prince2 Practitioner, PMI, Agile)

Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience

Experience using Microsoft Project

Experience using Microsoft Visio

Expert in Excel



JIRA / Atlassian Toolset

Agile certification (SCRUM or Kanban)

ITIL, DSDM, Agile Project Management, MoR


Some international travel may be required (anticipated to be restricted to the EMEA region)
