Job Description Summary The Global Business Analytics Global CoE's Senior Systems Architect is responsible for planning, designing, and managing the resources and processes related to all global data integration solutions and standards, including, but not limited to the Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) of disparate data and operational process data via Message-Oriented Middleware tools. The position is also responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing existing integration solutions, as well as assisting in the ongoing development of technical best practices for data movement, data quality, data cleansing and other global data integration related activities. Demonstrate the ability to preserve and modify the Business Analytics Global Program Strategy Plan in a manner that affords the whole of the Global Business Analytics CoE the ability to tailor key duties and responsibilities to meet the targeted goals and objectives, while defining the day-in-the-life of the Global Business Analytics CoE Senior Systems Architect. Modify existing methods, if needed, and provide subject matter expertise when working on assignments that typically are enterprise reaching or have high visibility for the global program. Perform other duties as assigned. Core Profile A passionate visionary who can determine how a solution's pieces fit together, and then employs coordinated methods and tools to drive the integration of data into and across business processes. A communicative individual who can focus on key business results by showing the customer that you care about their solutions being developed, are metrics-driven, and can communicate the costs and tradeoffs of your ideas to both the customers and the Business Analytics Global Program team. Capacity to understand, plan and then collaborate on the required evolutionary paths for data integration solutions, new technology insertions, and risk identification and mitigation. Working knowledge of, and experience with, Service Oriented Architectural (SOA) based solutions functioning within a 24/7 365 Operational Model. Ability to profile intended uses of operational process data, and where required, mash-up said operational data with behavioral data. Essential Communicative Qualities Well-respected and influential: The senior systems architect will need the support of peers, teammates, and senior IT, and therefore must possess the ability to influence them as well. Able to emphasize methodology, modeling, and governance: the senior systems architect needs to be well-versed in the architectural and modeling principles that support data integration and management. Technologically and politically neutral: The senior systems architect must be vendor/product-neutral and maintain an objective perspective. Likewise, it is important for the individual to understand enough about the broad range of technologies, in a manner that permits the architect to properly engage in discussions with technical experts and not be swayed by inappropriately biased personal agendas in technical decisions. Articulate, persuasive, and a good salesperson: the senior system architect must spend substantial time communicating and educating using the appropriate skills to clearly present and discuss ideas and solutions in a persuasive, compelling manner. Enthusiastic: The senior system architect should have a passion for technology, their line-of-work, and data integration architecture, while thoroughly believing in the Business Analytics Global Program's mission to move Lonza ahead in the market by providing solutions that help Lonza take advantage of the information and insight generated by the program. Deployable Skill Sets Primary Duties Lead the design, development and implementation of end-to-end complex global data integration (ETL) solutions using the core global data integration tool, while applying industry best practices for data integration design, development and scalability. Produce written deliverables for technical design, system testing and validation activities. Implement ETL solutions that are operationally stable, efficient and automated. Implement technical solutions that are scalable, aligned with the Global OT/IT Enterprise Architecture and can adapt to changes within the business. Implement ETL solutions that maximize re-usable components/services, collect/share metadata, and incorporate audit, reconciliation and exception handling. Implement parallel processing, load balancing, near real-time and real-time ETL processes. Own and evolve Data Integration strategy in areas that include, but are not limited to technical architecture and solutions, standards, principles, processes and methodologies, quality, etc. Develop future state architectures with road maps in the areas of data integration/delivery Knowledge Acquisition & Learning Display the ability to comprehend the Business Analytics Global Program Strategy Plan in a manner that affords the systems architect the ability to tailor key duties and responsibilities to meet the targeted goals and objectives, while defining the day-in-the-life of the systems architect. Must be able to re-define methods, if needed, and provide subject matter expertise when working on assignments that typically are enterprise reaching or have high visibility for the global program. Define data integration architecture standards, policies and procedures for the organization, structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elements, and apply accepted data content standards to projects. Business Qualifications Strong, yet balanced, business acumen, along with interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Excellent oral and written communication abilities, in parallel with clear and concise presentation skills. Extensive experience in 'Shared Services' as a business model for service delivery, while remaining cognizant of costs, chargeback models and quality as it relates to such service models. Demonstrated experience managing and supporting high profile, dynamic projects with multiple constituents, and involving technology development from beginning to end. A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and associates interfaces that may impact strategy, process capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance of business performance. Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move towards consensus. Self-starter, ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, communicate and collaborate as required and continuously deliver solid action-oriented solutions. Industry Experience Minimum ten years of related database and data integration development experience, including at least five years of experience as a systems architect working with data integration MOM technologies such as Informatica, Adeptia, and Information Builders, in conjunction with Web Services, SOAP, REST technology stacks and both XML and large relational data sets. Experience with, and detailed knowledge of, Master Data Management, ETL, Data Quality, metadata and master data management, data profiling, streaming data, and Change Data Capture (CDC). Experience with, and detailed knowledge of, integrating and aggregating large data sets into high-volume data warehouse applications using highly-varied and high-velocity data integration tools. Experience with, and detailed knowledge of, relational, OLTP, SQL, dimensional and OLAP databases and technologies, plus exposure to the nuances of columnar data sets. Working knowledge of Systems Analysis and Process Modeling Techniques and Tools used for the creation of data integration architectural standards; preferred experience to include: SSADM, DFD, ERD, Data Schemas, Data Normalization & Data Dictionaries Experience with XML data mapping & design methods and tools used for the managed transformation of operational and transactional data, within a JSON and Web Services based data delivery system. Concise communication ability to act as translator between technical subject matter experts and business process owners, and elicitor of requirements from business users and data owners. Experience and working knowledge of Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Self-Service Analytics and Data Warehousing processes, methods and tools.
