Job Description

This position plays a critical role in the Discover Decision Management - Acquisition Credit Modeling & Analytics team. The primary responsibilities include the development and implementation of acquisition modeling and analytical capabilities using the advanced data mining tools and the best-in-class data sources. Seeks opportunities to improve DFS advanced analytics and capabilities.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Manages a modeling team in the U.S. (Chicago) and coordinate with a modeling team in Shanghai to provide modeling support for Risk Management Functions
• Manages the relationship with business partners. Allocates resources and prioritizes projects. Ensures the modeling projects are delivered in a timely manner.
• Responsible for model design, development, and model implementation. Ensures that the models are maintained and updated in a timely manner and the models perform as expected
• Maintains a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools and techniques and support the advancement of the “best-in-class” analytical capabilities to support acquisition risk management functions
• Acts as a liaison among Decision Management, business technology teams and other business partners and interface across the organization
• Reviews external data and model vendors. Identifies, evaluates and recommends alternatives to business solutions. Keeps DFS on technology frontier

Skills Required: To qualify, you must have the following:

• Minimum Master Degree in a quantitative field is required.


• A strong set of quantitative/analytical skills demonstrated through advanced academic training and extensive practical experiences.
• Minimum 5-6 years of credit card industry experience with a thorough understanding credit card profitability dynamics.
• Strong computer skills, experience with statistical software and other analytical tools.
• Proven problem solving skills.

• Proven ability to lead and motivate people
• Excellent communication and influencing management skill
• Result oriented and demonstrate strong leadership competencies and propensity to innovate and challenge the status quo
