Lead Software Engineer

Our client is a global fintech in the mobile payments space. They work collaboratively with colleagues and across disciplines with clients, partners and operations based all over the world. This is a busy, exciting, and demanding place to work, and it’s the people that make the company. As a result of growth they are seeking a hands on Lead Software  Java Engineer. Currently the role is remote but will require flexibility to be in the London office as required ( possible 2-4 times a month )

As part of this Engineering team, you will be responsible for end-to-end development and support of financial components to include settlement and reconciliation.

Day to day you will ;

  • Lead a team of engineers by providing technical guidance, mentorship, and assistance to 
    build scalable, highly available applications 
  • Independently make technical decisions supporting the business to the successful 
    execution and rollout of a project
  • Design, build, and enhance the UI, APIs and data model required for the existing and new 
    products the team is responsible for
  • Own the products that you build, become the domain expert, and be actively involved in 
    strategic direction and product decisions
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, 
    development, testing and release 
  • Interface with other teams such as Product Management and Operations for requirement 
    gathering, planning and operation in production
  • Be highly motivated and maintain a positive, 'can-do' attitude in a fast moving 
    environment
  • Possess an  ability to think through customer pain points and requirements and to come up with 
    a simple, elegant solution
  • Foster the spirit of collaboration across multiple internal and external teams

You will possess:

  • Experience shipping high-quality products
  • Strong software design and architecture skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams: Product Management, Quality Assurance, Operational Support, etc
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document and explain technical design, best practices, and integration guide to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Hands-on software development experience in Java
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture
  • Experience integrating with third party web services across a variety of technologies, e.g. REST
  • Experience with some (or all) of the following technologies/frameworks/tools: Maven, Git, MySQL, JMS, Spring, JPA/Hibernate, Jersey, Jetty, Kubernetes
