Product Manager – Payments & Commerce Platforms

The Opportunity:

We’re hiring a Product Manager with strong Product Ownership instincts and deep exposure to payments, checkout, and commerce platforms to take ownership of a core payments product used in high-volume, revenue-critical environments. This is a high-impact, high-ownership role in a fast-growing business. You’ll shape product direction end-to-end: defining what gets built, why it matters, and ensuring teams are always working on the highest-value problems. You’ll operate comfortably across Product Manager and Product Owner responsibilities, partnering closely with founders, engineering, and commercial teams.

If you enjoy building products close to the money, making real trade-offs, and seeing your decisions directly affect customers and revenue then this role is for you.

What You’ll Do:

Product Leadership & Strategy:

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • Identify and prioritise the problems that deliver the greatest customer and commercial impact
  • Align product initiatives with company goals, revenue targets, and long-term strategy

Market & Customer Insight:

  • Maintain deep knowledge of the payments, CRM, and checkout ecosystem (e.g. checkout platforms, payment orchestration, billing tools)
  • Analyse competitors, pricing models, positioning, and feature gaps
  • Work closely with customers, sales, and internal stakeholders to validate assumptions
  • Turn customer and market insight into clear, actionable product decisions

Backlog Ownership & Execution Readiness:

  • Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring it is always prioritised and execution-ready
  • Decide what gets built next and keep teams focused on the highest-impact work
  • Write high-level requirements and break them down into clear, dev-ready user stories
  • Define acceptance criteria, success metrics, and expected outcomes
  • Act as the primary decision-maker when trade-offs or scope questions arise
  • Accept or reject completed work based on agreed requirements and outcomes

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, or similar role
  • Strong background in payments, payment orchestration, billing, or checkout platforms
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA (backlogs, epics, stories, workflows)
  • Comfortable working in small, high-autonomy teams
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in fintech or high-volume transaction environments
  • Exposure to subscription billing, retries, fraud, smart routing, or multi-MID setups
  • Experience with customer-facing checkout or payment products
  • Background scaling products from early stage to growth

What This Role Is (and Isn’t):

This role is:

  • Strategic and hands-on
  • Outcome-driven with high trust and ownership
  • Ideal for someone who enjoys shaping products end-to-end

This role is not:

  • A pure delivery or project management role
  • A narrow backlog-admin position
  • A role with rigid silos or fixed responsibilities

Why Join:

  • Direct influence on product direction and company outcomes
  • Close collaboration with founders and senior leadership
  • Opportunity to help shape a modern payments platform
  • Fast iteration, real customer impact, and meaningful ownership
