Risk and Compliance Officer – Reading
Up to £40,000 dependent on experience
Central Reading office 5 days a week
Our client is a fast growing, innovative fintech already well established in the UK breaking into the European market.
They are looking for a Risk and Compliance Officer who is able to demonstrate a thorough and commercially wise regulatory and risk understanding of the payments industry
Risk and Compliance Officer job scope :
As Risk and Compliance Officer, you will report into the Head of Risk and Compliance and be responsible for assisting the risk and compliance functions across all regulatory matters, overseeing areas of risk exposure, internal auditing across all functions and conduct regular meetings to communicate process changes.
As Risk and Compliance Officer your day to day will :
· Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance in all regulatory matters arising in any area of the business, including PSR 2017, MLR 2017, POCA2002, Data Protection, FCA handbooks, AML, CTF, AB&C.
· Support the Head of Risk and Compliance in liaising with law enforcement agencies and regulators across the UK and Overseas.
· Provide knowledgeable and valuable inputs surrounding the overall firm’s Risk Management framework, making sure that all the risks identified are correctly reviewed, assessed, assigned with a specific score according to pre-defined risk metrics and ultimately mitigated with the most appropriate procedures
· Participate in project managing the implementation of action plans, tech build and process change to ensure business scalability alongside regulatory compliance and card scheme regulations
· Document and support the drafting, updating, reviewing auditing and testing of policies, procedures and risk framework to ensure all processes are fully and accurately documented, tested throughout the entire business lifecycle
· Regulatory reporting and thematic reviews assigned to account for observed trends and ad-hoc reports
· Monitor, track, and report on any other risk events
· Complete internal audit of processes across all departments, QC’ing cases and providing objective feedback to department managers to improve business operations and rectify weaknesses
· Detect and immediately report any money laundering concerns to the MLRO
· Work with the Head of Risk and Compliance / MLRO on any suspicious activity
· Alert key partners and regulators to fraud concerns
· Support the Head of Risk and Compliance in delivering staff training and monitor AML and Anti-Bribery training schedules
As Risk and Compliance Officer you will have experience of :
· Risk and Compliance experience in a Financial Services environment
· A track record of successful project implementation
· Proposing and maintaining processes, calculating, and reviewing operational risk and compliance matters
· Maintaining relationships with strategic partners and all external stakeholders.
· Know-how and eager to learn with a team player approach
· Keen eye for detail
· Ability to approach problems in a thorough, multilateral and logical manner
· Must be a quick learner, willing to learn new processes and procedures
· Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, ever changing regulatory and work environment with multiple priorities across all areas of the business
· Strong communication skills
