Our client is a high growth global payment platform offering a breadth of unique merchant services to some of the world’s most prestigious and well known  brands. As part of this dynamic expansion, they are seeking a Solutions Engineer.

The role requires a wide scope of technical knowledge and ability to apply this knowledge in different circumstances when solutions are needed fast.

Solutions Engineer Role Overview

This is a technical role where you will gain an understanding of payment solutions for the Retail & Hospitality Industries, including a deep knowledge of the specific transactions and payment flows. As Solutions Engineer, you will liaise  with development teams and the integrator, understanding and documenting requirements, architecting a solution, working with both  integrators and in-house developers to create the solution, validating it with end-to-end tests and finally handover to pilot and operation support teams. You will be required to work on multiple integration projects simultaneously liaising directly with the Project Manager for that project.

You will also work with Sales and Product teams to advise them on technical matters, both pre and post sales.

Day to day you will :

• Maintain a good technical understanding of payment products and solutions

• Participate in the creation of cashless payment solutions made up of unattended systems, EMV terminals, networks, databases and connections to acquirer systems

• Do end-to-end testing of the payment solutions and raise defects to the relevant development department

• Support the 3rd party integrator’s technical resources on a regular basis during their development of the Integration

• Perform validation testing on various Retail and F&B systems in conjunction with the integrator

• Advise on technical aspects and working with a variety of systems

• Attend meetings and calls with both internal and external parties and provide technical advice

• Design, build and install test environments for each integration to support the integrator testing

 • Design, build and install test environments for Retail & F&B systems, to support Solution Engineering testing

• Perform, as required, installations of various UAT systems on customer sites either remotely on in person

• Have the ability to read and understand technical specifications, including architecture diagrams, payment flows and protocols

• Participate in the creation of payment solution architectures

• Work with third party software integrators, suppliers and developers

• Provide architecture and integration technical documentation of the payments solutions

• Provide documented, handover of the solution to the Service Operations team

• Participate in quality assurance / end-to-end test of new Terminal Releases

• Test new and existing payment terminal brands and models

• Build terminals for use with systems including loading firmware

• Work in a collaborative manner with the rest of Solution Engineering team and assist colleagues as required and help alleviate acute resource constraints, or project sprint cycles

 Who you are

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical payments environment

• Experience of working with an international POS system provider is desirable

• Good understanding of operational flows in a Retail and Food and Beverage environments

• Excellent analytical and pro-active, ability to work unsupervised and under pressure

• Be willing to learn new POS systems and their configuration

• Strong relationship management with the partners throughout several countries

• Good communication and user document writing skills (English mandatory)

• Pro-active and well organized attitude in all areas

• Skilled multi-tasker able to prioritize multiple tasks maintaining overview and focus

• Credit Card Industry Skills (EMV, PCI regulation, ISO8583, ISO7816)

Desirable skills :

• XML

• Databases: SQL, My SQL

 • Linux (basic administration)

• Java

 • MS Server all versions

• Bash and Regex scripting

 • Batch File and Power Shell programming

• Network and communication: TCP/IP, SSL, TLS, HTTP, HTTPS, Serial

• UML (state charts, use cases, activity and sequence diagrams)

• Software development lifecycle, Software testing lifecycle

• Programming experience using a high level language would be considered an asset.

• MS Office and Tools (Visio, Project) • Knowledge of large POS systems e.g. Xstore, Cegid, Aptos, is highly desirable •
