Our client is an award-winning European payments and banking fintech, with a fast growing team & office in Malta, and customers all across the EU. 

The role: 

Reporting to the MLRO, the Compliance Manager will be a key part of the Compliance/MLRO team. The team is responsible for managing regulatory compliance within the company. We perform a wide range of tasks, such as ensuring operational compliance with regulations, assisting with regulatory audits and annual statutory audits and conducting AML/snap checks. Our work is essential to the company’s sustainability and ambition. The compliance executive role relates mainly to Compliance and AML/CFT matters & includes: 

• Support the MLRO and Head of Compliance in delivering obligations stemming from the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR) and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure that all MFSA circulars relevant to the business are understood & brought forward to management.
• Maintain and update the Compliance Monitoring Program.
• Maintain effective and relevant Business Risk Assessments encompassing present and any future risks the business is or may become exposed to and update it annually or whenever major changes take place
• Preparations of related reports (outcome of the reviews/updates on regulation etc)
• Set the agenda for training within the organisation and develop/deliver training
• Maintain knowledge of all AML regulations and potential changes affecting the business, sharing and actioning to internal teams to deliver necessary changes
• Ensure AML reporting is current and up-to-date in order to protect the business from high-risk issues
• Receive all internal reports, review and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) for customers deemed suspicious
• Respond to requests for information received from local and foreign authorities
• MLRO review of high risk customers
• Ongoing monitoring of customers to ensure AML,TF, PF processes are functioning correctly on the risk-based approach
• Transaction monitoring snap checks
• Support in adapting and improving AML,TF, PF processes and monitoring tools to adhere to all regulatory requirements
• Assist and coordinate AML/CFT and compliance internal audits on a regular basis
• Coordinate and act as a point of contact during FIAU/MFSA examinations.

About you:

• 5 years professional experience in AML/CFT (Fintech Industry- payments) and regulatory compliance
• Team player, who can distil critical information from regulatory guidance, statutes and regulations, audit findings, and other documents and determine how it impacts the business
• Background of working with multiple stakeholders to ensure best practices, transparency and proactive communication
• Ability to review and embed ways of working, with focus on efficiency and effectiveness
• Integrity and professional ethics
