Head  of Payment Operations - Subscriptions / High Risk

We are an organisation with multiple brands all operating in the high risk Subscription space within AI

Due to growth we are seeking a Head of Payment Operations to help establish relationships with acquirers, card schemes and internal stakeholders.

In this role you will establish relationships with different acquirers to help expand our growth and provide a seamless payment experience. You  will have extensive experience in high-risk payments, subscription models, and selecting appropriate acquirers. You will be responsible for developing and implementing payment strategies that optimize efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance the overall customer experience.


Reporting to the CEO, you will also be growing a team to assist you in the day to day running of the Operations team.


Day to day you will be responsible for :


  • Payment Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive payment strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives. This includes assessing current payment processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to optimize payment operations.
  • High-Risk Payments Management: Oversee high-risk payment processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Implement fraud prevention measures and mitigation strategies to minimize risk and protect company assets.
  • Subscription Payment Optimization: Lead efforts to enhance subscription payment processes and maximize recurring revenue streams. Analyze subscription payment data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Implement strategies to optimize subscription billing cycles, reduce churn, and increase customer lifetime value.
  • Acquirer Selection and Management: Evaluate and select appropriate acquirers and payment service providers based on business needs, cost-effectiveness, and service quality. Manage relationships with acquirers and negotiate favorable terms to optimize payment processing costs and service levels.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including Finance, Legal, Product, and Engineering, to ensure alignment on payment initiatives and seamless integration of payment solutions into existing systems and processes.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the performance of payment processes and initiatives. Generate regular reports and dashboards to provide visibility into payment operations and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in payment regulations and compliance requirements. Ensure that payment processes adhere to relevant regulations, including PCI DSS, GDPR, and other applicable standards.

To be successful in this role, you will possess :

·        3 years +   experience in payments, with a focus on high-risk payments and subscription models

·        Proven track record of success in developing and implementing payment strategies that drive business growth and enhance customer experience

·        Strong understanding of payment processing technologies, acquirer relationships, and industry trends

·        Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

·        Effective leadership and team management abilities

·        Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
