We’re recruiting a Payments Specialist for a growing European financial services platform serving local businesses. You’ll sit at the intersection of product, operations and scheme compliance, helping to develop the infrastructure behind its payments products.
This role calls for someone who knows UK and European payment schemes in depth and can turn complex scheme requirements into practical changes with product and engineering teams.
What you’ll do
Lead direct and indirect participation in schemes including Faster Payments, CHAPS, Bacs, SEPA Credit Transfer and SEPA Direct Debit.
Drive ISO 20022 work, including MT to MX mapping, CBPR+ requirements and technical implementation.
Keep the business aligned with scheme rulebooks and changing standards.
Write functional requirements and design documentation for payments platform changes.
Work with scheme bodies, banking partners and internal stakeholders.
Help develop settlement, reconciliation, exception handling and payment operations capabilities.
Provide expertise on cross-border payments, SWIFT gpi, FX flows and high-value clearing.
What you’ll bring
At least eight years’ payments experience across multiple UK and European schemes.
Strong knowledge of ISO 20022, SWIFT messaging and payment infrastructure.
Experience contributing to direct scheme participation or major scheme implementation projects.
The ability to write clear functional specifications and work closely with engineers.
Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and external payment infrastructure partners.
Experience in acquiring settlement, merchant reconciliation, Open Banking or payments testing would be an advantage.
