Senior Accounts Assistant – 12 months FTC contract

Our client is a global card scheme looking for a Senior Accounts Assistant for  a 12 month contract

You will  provide support to the Finance Department performing accounting functions including, bank reconciliations, month-end reporting, preparing VAT returns, budgeting and working on projects. You will  liaise with other European offices  to ensure that the accounting requirements are met.

To be successful in your application you must be at a minimum, actively studying for a professional accounting qualification eg CIMA, ACA or ACCA  


Day to day you will :

• Provide high quality financial information including analysis of financial status including preparing standard accounting reports, analysing and reporting reasons for variances

• Oversee and maintain accurate and timely payment processes

• Oversee and upload the FX rates to the system, monitoring any variances

• Provide support to develop budgets, monitor budgets & savings and ensure significant items are correctly reported

• Provide appropriate support to the wider team, on relevant departmental key projects and initiatives

• Establish and maintain partnership relationships with Banks

• Establish and maintain relationships with offices in Europe and global headquarters

• Conduct fixed asset audits periodically as determined by management

• Assist in the completion of annual financial accounts to ensure correct disclosures

• Ability to provide financial explanations to a non  financial audience

• Provide support in quarterly tax return preparation for office locations as determined by management

• Support the preparation for the annual audit

• Prepare ad hoc reports that address operational requirements

• Travel within Europe as required

• Comply with internal  policies and procedures


To be successful in this role you will need:

 • Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting/finance

• Experience in preparation of balance sheet accounts

·     Strong accounting skills and understanding of accounting processes

• Intermediate or advanced proficiency in MS Office with excellent excel skills

• Intermediate proficiency in SAP system desirable

• Ability to develop and maintain relationships e.g., employees, banks, vendors

• Demonstrable analytical and data interpretation skills

• Strong presentation skills, articulate, able to communicate clearly at all levels

• Resourceful in resolving issues and solving problems, leveraging resources to get results

• Excellent verbal, written and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and take initiative

• Strong planning and organisational skills
